Mennonite Church USA Convention Purpose Statement

1. Gather as a body of Christ to experience joy in relationship while building denominational vision and identity.
2. Gather the church community for worship, fellowship, learning and carrying out the work of the church.
3. Nurture participants in Christian growth and discipleship, inviting them to make and/or strengthen their commitment to Christ and the church.
4. Gain an understanding of the Biblical story through an Anabaptist lens.
5. Resource participants and congregational and conference leaders.
6. Enable delegates to confer on issues of denominational life and conduct the established assembly business.
7. Serve and be a witness to the local community.
8. Create an opportunity for all parts of Mennonite Church USA to gather, regardless of participants’ race, ethnicity, gender, age, geographic location or socioeconomic status.
